Casting & Forging

Investment Casting: 
Also known as lost wax casting, allows manufacturers to create more intricate designs that are generally not possible using other methods. Some of the benefits of investment casting include:

Pressure Die Casting: 
Involves forcing molten metal under pressure into a mould cavity. Moulds or dies can produce complex shapes with immaculate accuracy.

Sand Casting: 

Sand casting is the process of creating metallic parts through pouring molten metal into a cavity formed by a recyclable sand mould.

  • Very economical method for low volume runs

  • Used for production of very large parts 

  • Can be used for almost any type of metal.

Metal Forging: 

Metal forging is a method in which metal is compressed between two dies to produce parts. Some of the benefits of metal forging include: 

  • very low operational costs, ideal for high volume production runs 

  • Parts are extremely strong

  • Can be used for a large variety of steel, aluminium and metal alloys.

Welding Fabrication: 

Suitable for high volume production and larger welding and fabrication projects. MIG melding is suitable for a large array of tasks spanning multiple industries. Some of the advantages include:

CNC Machining

CNC Milling: 

CNC milling is the process of cutting and drilling materials from multiple angles to create highly complex parts. Some benefits of CNC milling include:

CNC Turning: 

CNC turning is the process in which materials are spun at high speeds while a tool carefully removes un-necessary material. Similar to milling, the benefits include:

EDM Wire Cutting: 

EDM wire cutting allows our manufacturers to cut complex three dimensional parts. Wire cutting is limited to conductive metals only. Some of the benefits include: 

  • Ability to machine harder materials

  • Extremely precise 

  • Suitable for prototypes, one off jobs and full production runs.


Plastic Manufacturing

3D Printing: 
Idea to Life have a variety of 3D printing services that are perfect for small batch production and prototype creation.


The 3D printing services we offer include: 

Fused deposition Modelling (FDM): Thermoplastic is heated and extruded through a nozzle onto the 3D printing bed based on a CAD drawing. This method is the cheapest, however the quality of the print will not be as smooth, or as tough as other methods. 

Stereolithography (SLA): SLA is a form of 3D printing where a UV light hardens UV sensitive resin. The variety of resins available allow the plastics to have a variety of properties based on the needs of your project. 


Selective Laser Sintering (SLS): SLS is a method in which lasers melt polymer powder layer by layer to create a finished product.    

Plastic Injection Moulding 

Plastic injection moulding involves heating plastic and extruding it into a die (injection moulding tool). Once the plastic cools, the part is then ejected. Some of the benefits of injection moulding include: 

  • Fast Production 

  • High quality surface finishes

  • Easy to automate for mass production 

  • Ability to create highly complex products
